Middle Eastern Dance: From the Desert to the Plains

Experience how traditional dances from the Middle East celebrate women's lives. Themes such as fertility, courtship, marriage and birth, as well as the sue of dance as entertainment, self expression, healing, and meditation, will be explored and illustrated through a wealth of movement learned in class. Each week, we will focus on a dance from a different region of the Middle East. All dances are communal, meant to be performed in a group, and are highly improvisational in nature. No previous dance experience required.
